Raahii-6 Overview

What is RAAHII?

  • Concept: India’s frugal field-classroom where students learn by moving.
  • Motto: Eyes open, bags light, hearts brave.
  • Timeline: Started 2018-19. Now in Season-6 (2025-26).
  • Legacy: From Banaras (R2) to Nepal (R5), we never stopped.

What is RAAHII-6?

  • The Event: Himalaya Edge: Tumling Trek (Darjeeling + Singalila Ridge).
  • Journey: Lohit Express -> Tea Gardens -> Mall Road -> Monasteries.
  • The Trek: 6-8km walk from Dhotrey to Tumling border ridge.
  • The View: Sleeping Buddha (Kanchenjunga) & Winter Frost.

Itinerary & Places to Visit

  • Day 0: Gorakhpur to NJP (Lohit Express).
  • Day 1: Transfer to Darjeeling. Evening Mall Road walk.
  • Day 2: Tiger Hill Sunrise, Zoo, HMI, Rock Garden.
  • Day 3: Trek Dhotrey to Tumling.
  • Day 4: Sunrise View, Trek Down, Return Train.

FAQ Background

Common FAQs

1) What is RAAHII-6? Himalaya Edge: Darjeeling–Tumling Trek is a student trek-competition blending travel learning with a real hill day (~10,000 ft).

2) Who can apply? Students from 7 districts (Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, etc.) in Classes 6–12 (ages 10–18).

3) Seats & Dates? 51 seats only. Reg: 7–24 Dec. Training: 1–6 Jan 2026.

4) Selection? R1: Form Review. R2: Physical/Medical (2km walk, stairs, etc.). R3: Payment & Training.

5) Fee Refund? ₹200 reg fee is refundable ONLY if rejected in R1. Non-refundable if you reach R2.

6) Trip Fee? ₹7,999. Includes Rail (GKP-NJP), Transfers, Permits, Stays, Guides, Meals (Tumling).

7) Special Gear? Mandatory RAAHII Kit (rent/buy) + Tablet (rent/own).

8) Is training compulsory? Yes, all 6 virtual sessions are mandatory for safety.

9) Will we see snow? Not guaranteed. Jan brings frost; snow depends on weather.

10) Safety? 5 subgroups, registered guides, staff lead/sweep, separate rooms for girls.

11) Scoring? 160 points: Quizzes (60), Trek Time (50), Micro-events (30), Conduct (20).

12) Documents? School ID + Aadhaar Card (originals).
